By Air

Flying to
Gilgit First

There is no airport in Ghizer. The nearest airport is Gilgit Airport (GIL). PIA and Air Sial operate daily flights from Islamabad (45 minutes, Rs.5,000–12,000). Flights are weather-dependent and cancel frequently — always build a buffer day into your itinerary.

From Gilgit airport, hire a taxi to the bus stand (Rs.300–500) then take shared or private transport into Ghizer. Alternatively, pre-arrange a private jeep directly from the airport to Gahkuch or Phander.

Flight tip: Always book a return flight with at least one day's flexibility. Gilgit flights cancel 2–3 times per week on average. If you have a strict deadline, take the bus to/from Islamabad instead.
