How to get north from Karachi
Fly to Islamabad, then north. The standard route: a 2-hour flight to Islamabad, then either the mountain flight onward to Gilgit/Skardu (about an hour, weather-dependent) or the Karakoram Highway by road. Direct to the mountains.
