Lahore is one of the biggest sources of northern travellers in Pakistan, and the good news is you're only one short leg further from the mountains than Islamabad. Most "tour packages from Lahore" simply add the Lahore-Islamabad connection to a standard northern itinerary - and for Naran, there are popular direct coaches. I'm from Gilgit-Baltistan and help Lahoris plan these trips; here's the honest 2026 picture of routes, real costs, and how to choose.

The Lahore reality

You're ~4-4.5 hours from Islamabad on the M-2 motorway (or a 45-minute flight). From there it's the same northern routes everyone uses. For Naran specifically, direct overnight coaches from Lahore exist - sometimes the simplest option of all.

The packages on the market for Lahore travellers in 2026

Real packages from current operator listings (June 2026), per person, group sharing. Prices shown are the ex-Islamabad baseline - from Lahore, add the connecting leg (a Daewoo coach is roughly Rs 2,000-3,000, or a short flight), or have us arrange a Lahore pickup. I can quote any of these all-in from Lahore.

Most popular from Lahore - Naran-Kaghan. It's the closest northern destination and the one with direct Lahore coaches (overnight, ~10-12 hours), so it's the easiest weekend escape without even routing through Islamabad. Hunza and Skardu are best reached by connecting to Islamabad first (drive or fly) and joining a northern departure there. The full Hunza + Skardu circuit is very doable from Lahore on 9-11 days once you add the connection.

Three ways north from Lahore

1) Direct coach to Naran (Naran only). Overnight Daewoo/private coaches run Lahore-Naran in season - cheapest and simplest for a Kaghan trip. 2) Motorway to Islamabad, then join. Drive or coach the M-2 (~4-4.5 hrs) to Islamabad and start any northern package there - the standard route for Hunza, Skardu and the circuit. 3) Fly Lahore-Islamabad (or onward). A 45-minute hop saves the road time; occasionally there are seasonal Lahore-Skardu/Gilgit options worth checking. Most Lahore travellers do (2) for the flexibility.

Each northern trip from Lahore

Naran-Kaghan (from Rs 11,500 + leg, or direct coach). The quickest hit of the mountains - direct from Lahore or via Islamabad. See the Naran guide. Hunza (from Rs 17,500 + leg). Connect to Islamabad, then fly to Gilgit or drive the KKH; 6-8 days door to door from Lahore (Hunza guide). Skardu (from Rs 23,500 + leg). Same - connect to Islamabad and fly or drive in (Skardu guide). The full circuit (from Rs 40,000 + leg) needs 9-11 days from Lahore (GB circuit).

What it costs from Lahore in 2026

Take the ex-Islamabad prices above and add the connecting leg: roughly Rs 2,000-3,000 each way by coach, or the price of a short flight. So a Naran trip lands around Rs 13,000-15,000 all-in, Hunza around Rs 20,000+, and the circuit around Rs 45,000+. Direct Naran coaches can be cheaper still. Private and honeymoon tours run Rs 160,000-190,000 plus the connection. As always, confirm whether a quoted "from" price is the full cost or a deposit.

When to go & is it safe in 2026?

The seasons are the same wherever you start: summer (June-August) opens the whole north and the high passes; spring brings Hunza blossom; autumn brings the colour. Northern Pakistan is among the safest regions in the country for travellers - the real variables are seasonal road/pass access and weather-dependent flights, not security. Check the live road & pass status before you lock dates.
